Fought Jordan Montgomery -- a lefty so similar, if they swapped uniforms you might not notice -- to a 3-3 standstill over five.

Bruce Zimmermann (P) BAL - May. 19
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=15664

Zimmermann allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk across five innings during Thursday's 9-6 win over the Yankees. He struck out two.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Zimmerman gave up a two-run single to Giancarlo Stanton in the first and a solo shot to the slugger in the third. He was ultimately chased in the sixth after allowing back-to-back singles and saw his his line take a blow when both of those runners came around to score on a Isiah Kiner-Falefa game-tying single. It was by far Zimmerman's worst start of the season, and he's now given up multiple runs in six straight games after not allowing a run across his first two starts of the season. His next start is tentatively scheduled for a rematch with the Yankees in New York on Tuesday.

Good call by the Veecks!

Good call, Alex. Zimmermann looked good yesterday against the Yankees. Until his fielders fell apart.

Reading Alex's comment here yesterday prompted the Nabobs to go higher than they expected. But, obviously, not high enough.

Ah, the pressure!

I'll definitely place some kind of bet on him tomorrow.

How much I don't know, and if I did I wouldn't say.

I just picked him up for $1 ($100 budget) on your recommendation, Alex. No one else bid on him. Being on the Orioles could help to keep his price low.

I was hoping he'd get clocked yesterday; get some seriously bad stats out of the way before he joined my team. Also make him less expensive -- by a lot.

And now? What do I bid for him on Monday? I have a thousand dollars to spend.

$2?

$10?

$20?

More? By design, I didn't buy enough innings a week ago. The idea is to buy them with funny money.

The fun begins.

Bruce Zimmermann (P) BAL - Apr. 22
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=15664

Zimmermann (1-0) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings, earning the win Friday versus the Angels.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Zimmermann covered five scoreless innings, but he ran out of steam a bit at the end. He exited with no outs in the seventh inning after Anthony Rendon's two-run blast brought the Angels within two runs. The Orioles' bullpen was able to maintain the lead, earning Zimmermann his first win of the season to go with a pair of no-decisions through three starts. He's been very effective with a 1.20 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB across 15 innings. The southpaw is projected to face the Yankees next week.

Even with four scoreless innings already in the books on Saturday, no one bid a dollar for him in the auction and he went unclaimed him in the reserve draft.

44,461 pack Camden Yards for the home opener and they win!

O's should have a good crowd this weekend but it will feel like they're playing on the road.

Rotowire:

Tosses four shutout innings
April 11, 2022
Zimmermann allowed three hits and two walks over four scoreless innings in Monday's win over the Brewers. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
The only time Zimmermann was in much danger Monday came during the third inning. He walked Christian Yelich to load the bases with two outs but escaped the jam unharmed. The 27-year-old southpaw played 14 games with the Orioles last season and never recorded a scoreless appearance. Zimmermann is expected to face the Yankees at home this weekend.
