Rotoworld:

09.14: Brendan Rodgers ripped a two-run home run Tuesday as the Rockies downedthe Braves. (The Braves tied things up in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Rodgers put them back ahead what turned out to be for good with a line drive shot off Touki Toussaint which just cleared the wall in left. Amazingly, 10 of Rodgers' 12 home runs this season have come away from Coors Field.)

Hit his fourth homer this week.

My contribution to PK/AP in the XFL this week was to bench Rodgers in favor of Thairo Estrada.

Rotoworld:

07.28: Brendan Rodgers homered and scored three runs in a 12-3 rout of theAngels on Tuesday.  (Rodgers connected on a solo shot off an ineffective Jose Suarez in the third inning. That gives him homers in back-to-back games, and he's starting to show the plus power that made him such a quality prospect prior to the 2020 season. With a 2-for-5 game that also saw him draw a walk, Rodgers is now up to an OPS of .788 in his 51 games with Colorado. It's worth pointing out that he doesn't turn 25 until August. )

MikeG at BP sez ... Out for about a month with a right hamstring strain.

RotoNews/NBC sez ... Rockies manager Bud Black said Friday that Brendon Rodgers (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.

At last check, the Rockies felt Rodgers' injury wasn't serious, but he must have either aggravated it or he's just not bouncing back as quickly as hoped. It's a bummer either way, as the former top prospect had been looking like a good bet to win the starting job at second base. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post believes that the club will now shift Ryan McMahon over to second base and use Josh Fuentes at third. Garrett Hampson also should get more run at second, although it would appear he'll mostly remain in a utility role. Fuentes now has some deep-league appeal.

Ron Shandler has the second pick on Monday. He's unique in not having a single farm player. The XFL is 15-team mixed; there will be a wealth of impact players this year to choose from. I wonder if he'll finally be tempted down the rabbit hole?

I joined an NL-only league this year with a 12 man minors system and it's crazy how far down the rabbit hole I have had to go to get up to speed with it. I may not stay in it because it has so many crazy rules, but who knows.

I'm looking forward to the Draft on Monday. It should be a very interesting evening. The top-2 SP from this years class are both taken (Rocker and Leiter) and by my count 80+ of the Top-100 prospects are already rostered. The XFL might not be a true Dynasty, but it's pretty darn close. It's the only League I partake in that has no restrictions on who we can roster. That fact has a certain charm. It might be time to invest in the14-year-old kid that consistently hits my back porch with the newspaper?

The XFL is not sort of dynasty. Steve Moyer led the way, Doug Dennis picked up the baton. And then Tim McCloud joined.

I endorse this comment, especially since Rodgers problem has been health. Still young, still on my sort of dynasty team (ours Alex), but less enthusiastic.
