Claimed on waivers by the Braves.

One thing that the no-waiver trades change has done is make people take a chance on DFA-ed players whose salary might have been prohibitive in the past. Now those people may be the best chance to grab a veteran.

I also think we are seeing slightly more prospect call-ups than usual to fill injury spots.

You can't steal first.  But, imagine pairing Chris Davis and Hamilton together and just throwing away batting average.  Considering all of the teams that give away a category - steals or saves or even HR, which I've done before - average can be accomplished too.  The only risk is guys who hit in the low 200s or even lower are more likely to lose their jobs.

From Brett Sayre's recap of the LABR AL auction this weekend:

... Kansas City is a nearly
perfect fit for him—the expectations are low, the team likes to run and
he should get all the playing time he can handle. On top of that, he’s
one of the few hitters on the planet who is helped by going from GABP to
Kauffman Stadium. With a far more spacious outfield to work with,
Hamilton should be able to drop in more singles. And more singles beget
more steals, which beget more runs. If you think Adalberto Mondesi can steal 40-50 bases, there’s no reason to think Hamilton can’t steal 50-60. He’s done it plenty of times before.

Royals will be a trip this year, and lineup and context issues could mess with a lot of expectations. But how many bases can a team steal?

Peter did not project regression for Hamilton last year; he projected career highs in batting average and SB.

This year, with Hamilton on the Royals, I expect Peter's projected batting average will be a little high, the projected stolen bases a little low.

Signed a one-year deal with the Royals for $5.25 million.

A nice raise, considering he was non-tendered by the Reds, who paid him $4.6 million last year.
