Rays | Avisail Garcia on injured list

Tampa Bay Rays OF Avisail Garcia (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Aug. 14, because of a right oblique strain. The team also recalled RP Jose De Leon from Class AAA Durham. Source: MLB.com

BHQ take: Garcia has only had one season (2015) since 2013 in which he did not spend time on the IL, and so heads there now in 2019 with the oblique strain. Statistically, 2019 has been his second-best season to date; earning $20 in rotisserie value with 17 HR, nine steals, and a .278 BA. He is currently estimated to miss 10-14 days, and the Rays bench players listed below are expected to pick up the playing time slack during the period. De Leon has not pitched in the majors since his 2018 Tommy John surgery, and is expected to work in the early-to-middle innings when needed. —Matt Dodge

Signed a one-year deal with the Rays for $3.5 million. Could earn another 2.5 with incentives. Was paid $6.7 million last year by the White Sox, who non-tendered him in November.

I'm surprised his fielding is only three runs below average.
