Gomber allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four across 4.2 innings Monday against the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Gomber pitched a scoreless three innings to open the game, but he ran into trouble in the latter portions of his start. He allowed one run in the fourth frame, surrendering a walk and double to consecutive batters. He exited the game in the fifth inning, leaving runners on first and third -- both of whom were allowed to score by reliever Justin Lawrence. Gomber also threw 78 pitches, which suggests he may be able to work deeper in his next start, currently projected to come Sunday against Chicago.
