Broxton's elbow surgery trumps all reasons to put AC in the rotation.

I made the comment because that seems to be the idea in the General Manager's office with Baker being all that has kept Chapman as closer.

The GM didn't spend his money on Broxton so Broxton could be a setup guy.

Now Leake/Cingrani emergence MIGHT be enough to make them back off from that. It just depends on how they feel about looking dumb on Broxton versus doing what is right.

Not sure why Chapman would suddenly get thrust into the starters role:

a) he wants to stay a closer
b) he's really good at it
c) Latos and Bailey aren't FA's until 2015, Leake and Cueto until 2016, Cingrani until 2019. So even if Arroyo isn't re-signed this offseason, you need a trade or injury (or to just swap Cingrani and Chapman's roles) to get Aroldis into the rotation.

Pitching for the 4th day in a row strikes out Puig, Gonzalez, and Hanley on 13 pitches; 7 of the 9 strikes swinging in a one run game.

And several clocked at 103.

Terrible attendance throughout baseball on the day after Labor Day. The glass at Great American more than half empty (20,219, 48% of capacity) as the Reds edge the Cardinal one-zip in the three-way fight in the NL Central.

To close it out, Aroldis struck out the side on 14 pitches. Of the ten that were thrown for strikes, two were foul-tipped, two were called, the rest were swung at and missed.

Matt Holliday was the batter who made contact. Carlos Beltran and Allen Craig were the other victims.

I dropped his price as a reliever, but not because I didn't think he could do the job.

Struck out Harper, Zimmerman and Tracy on 12 pitches this afternoon, in what looks like the best game of the year so far (Cincy tied it with two in the bottom of the ninth; Nats scored two, Cincy scored one in the eleventh).

Bids for Chapman in the final release: PK5 $13, MF4 $20, AP4 $27... nice to see our 5x5 guys disagreeing for a change!

I was too timid.
