all the more impressive considering that everyone was reporting he'd be unavailable for action on Sunday

In the seventh inning yesterday...

Aroldis Chapman pitching for Cincinnati

Strike (looking), Strike (swinging), Strike (swinging), J Lucroy struck out swinging

Ball, Strike (looking), Ball, Strike (swinging), Foul, Strike (swinging), R Weeks struck out swinging

Strike (foul), Strike (swinging), Ball, Ball, Strike (swinging), C Gomez struck out swinging

And then a spotless eighth, although there was only one punchout.

But 10 SO in 10 IP? Can't be anything like the movement on his fastball that Kimbrel gets.

Teaser alert - when Roto Think Tank rolls some value assessments out next month, we'll talk about relievers in 5x5!

Sometimes, we do requests :)

I was definitely thinking of him as a guy who can crack 120 K's this year, giving him value even as a reliver, and who could hit 200 next year in the rotation.

He went for $14 in PCL ... and I'm still wondering if I shoulda click on $15 ...

In a keeper league (such as PCL) he's worth a starter's salary this year, imo, because he seems low risk for this year (he'll get plenty of Ks, even if he's only in a relief role, and he might get some closer-action), and it seems he's a decent bet to be a good starter next year and beyond ...

In a keeper league auction, you gotta do some NPV calculation ...

Were the PK $3 ad MF $5 really the final bids on Aroldis?

So I continue to wonder in the new 5x5 world, just how many relievers make your cut in the positive numbers (i.e. how do you know when a reliever starts contributing more than a poor starter)?

Admittedly, if someone threw something in the near vicinity of me at 102.4, I would be very scared.
