Rotoworld:

09.03... Anthony Alford clobbered a pair of home runs and drove in three on Friday afternoon, but it wasn't enough to power the Pirates past the Cubs.
Spin: Alford got the Pirates on the board with a mammoth 469-foot blast off of Alec Mills in the fifth inning to trim their deficit to 5-1. He then smashed a 435-foot shot to center field in the following inning to tie the game at 5-5. That would be the extent of their scoring though. Even with the two-hit attack, he's hitting just .186/.250/.400 with four homers and seven RBI in his limited big league action this season.

Anthony Alford (OF) PIT - Aug. 07
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=797768

Alford went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles Saturday in a loss to Cincinnati. He was also caught stealing.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Alford, who got the start in left field and hit seventh in the lineup, was making his first appearance for the Pirates since April 18 and came through with the first three-hit game of his career. The 27-year-old Alford has never found his footing at the big-league level over parts of five seasons with Toronto and Pittsburgh, but he owned a 1.013 OPS in 189 at-bats for Triple-A Indianapolis this year, adding 14 homers and nine steals. With a dearth of outfield options in Pittsburgh, it appears Alford will get one more look with the Pirates.

Will be interesting to see where O'Neil Cruz lands come May 4 and what position he plays.

28 plate appearances seems a little early to pull the plug, especially without any real alternatives.

I also thought this would be the year.

Two knocks, one over the fence, the other good for two bases, to raise his spring training batting average to .417. The wind in Bradenton was blowing 12 mph in from right. AP4 might have to be puffed up a little.

Anthony Alford (OF) PIT - Mar. 09

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=764717

Alford went 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI against Atlanta on Tuesday.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Recovering from an elbow injury, Alford played center field for just the second time this spring. He's competing for the starter's job in center and is out of options. Brian Goodwin can be optioned to Triple-A, while the recently acquired Dustin Fowler is also out of options. Alford looked good for four games last season before fracturing his right elbow. If he's healthy, then there's a good chance he'll at least break camp with the team.
