Reportedly back today. I can't activate him until Monday. It's amazing just thinking I have one of my drafted outfielders healthy and in the majors.

Three knocks. including a double and homer, yesterday in the Cactus League. The big fly was against Danny Salazar, who recorded four of his six outs on punchouts.

His year to year inconsistency is remarkable.
WAR:
2006 +4.6; 2007 +5.6; 2008 +5.9;
2009 +0.8; 2010 +3.3; 2011 -1.9
2012 +4.8; 2013 +2.0; 2014 +0.6
I'm inclined to think that his slippage last year was part of a largely dysfunctional meltdown in Arlington ... and at age 34 the Royals could well end up with a bargain at $11 mil.

You watch him play and you think: tall Al Kaline.
That dates me.
Hr couldn't be further from Kaline in terms of his year to year play. A mystery.
