I'm working on Big Prices for the Guide. Today I have Adam Jones with a price of $18. What do you think?

August 23 for the 2001 Rangers(Mariners 116 win season). August 22 for 2003 Tigers. August 16 for 1975 Astros(first team I thought of).

I actually guessed the '62 Mets, but then I see you said since divisional play began.

Guessing you try to think of terrible teams, but I'm going the other way. My guess would be the worst AL West team from the year the Mariners won 116 games.

Since divisional play began, has there ever been a team eliminated from the division race as early as the Orioles this year, 8/10?

Meet your new right fielder.  Cedric Mullins is the new CF.  He needs to be unearthed.

Remember when Jones said he wouldn't be traded unless he was guaranteed to start in CF?

The Indians are apparently interested in Brach.  I'm not sure why, considering how badly he has pitched this year.  But, watching them versus the Tigers, I can see a fit for Jones as well.  For a team so good to have an OF so questionable, wow.

Adam Jones (OF) BAL - Mar. 13

Jones is hitting .320 with a 6:2 K:BB and a pair of doubles in 25 spring at-bats.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He has yet to hit a home run in Grapefruit League play, but is off to a strong start nonetheless. Last year he split time hitting in all of the top four spots in the lineup, getting the most starts out of the two hole (248 plate appearances) and his second most starts out of the four hole (227 plate appearances). So far in spring training he has been locked in as the cleanup hitter, batting directly behind Manny Machado.

Jones is a TV-friendly defensive player.  He robs a few HR every year because Camden Yards has low fences.  He has a very good arm.  He lays out for a lot of line drives and makes a lot of diving catches.  To an extent, it is Jeteresque, because other, better defensive CF make those plays without leaving their feet.  He would have made a superb RF the past couple of years and the next few as well.  I'm not sure what the O's will do with him after the season, but with Mancini best suited to DH, Trumbo also expiring, and Austin Hays a corner OF with better speed and defense than Mancini, I think they should sign Jones to play RF and bring in a guy like Dyson to shore up the outfield defense.  If they're playing for this year, that would be a good plan now.  Hays will likely start in AAA to save his service time, so it makes sense.  Plus, the Dyson/Beckham combination in the leadoff and 9th spot, whichever makes more sense would add a good speed element to the lineup; something that's been severely lacking for the past few years.
