Designated for assignment after going something like 0-for-11. That's what excessive cleverness gets you.

I was hoping everyone would overlook him, so I went with a $0 bid to replace Trevor Larnach. One of six $0 bids, none of which hit. So, Cal Raleigh to UT from the bench. There aren't a lot of options out there.

The hope (both mine and Alex's since we were the only people who bid on him in the ADL) is that he will survive as a fourth OF in Anaheim. If so -- and it's a long shot --  those 36 AA steals look awfully appealing.

From BP today:

Los Angeles Angels place IF David Fletcher on the 10-day IL, recall IF Luis Rengifo up, select the contract of OF Aaron Whitefield.
Fletcher hits the IL again with the same hip issue that sent him there in April; he received a cortisone injection at that point but admitted it didn’t have the anticipated effect. It seems surgery is a possible outcome at this point, which would put a significant damper on what was surely hoped to be a bounceback campaign. Fletcher’s .622 OPS from last season is ugly, but not as ugly as his 86 DRC+, .068 ISO, and zero barrels. That .622 OPS is better than Luis Rengifo’s .619 career mark, by the way. Whitefield won’t be making his major league debut, having appeared in three games for the 2020 Twins whilst logging just one plate appearance, but his .938 OPS in Double-A Rocket City earned him another tryout.Of note: Jo Adell remained in the minors in favor of Whitefield, reinforcing the notion the Angels intend to keep him stashed unless he forces the issue or an injury in the outfield offers the hope of more playing time.
