I'm working on Big Prices for the Guide. Today I have Aaron Nola with a price of $27. What do you think?

Phillies are 44-37 after 81 games, trailing the National -- I mean the Braves -- by three. (They are three ahead of the Nats.)

Nola has won ten games, tying him with Scherzer and Lester for the league lead. Nola's thrown 109 IP to a 2.48 ERA and 1.01 HIP, walking 31 and striking out 107. BABIP .267, L/G/F 51/19/30. Only six of the pitches he's thrown have been hit for home runs.

Because of that, he and Kluber have identical ratings. Not incidentally, they have similar ERAs.

Guys who earn $18 in their breakout year at a young age are the danger zone. They look like they're on their way, but things don't really add up yet. There's some chance Nola will Kluber this year, but it's more likely he'll Carrasco. And the Phillies aren't yet Cleveland in terms of support.

When everyone loves the same guy, how can you possibly make a profit? I might have to accept that Nola is too famous for my general strategy.

January 16 is the onsale date for the Guide. It usually starts showing up the week before.

From the Baseball Forecaster (in B&N now -- can the Guide be far behind?):

"Lower back strain shelved him early on, but he recovered in time for a dynamic second half. Possesses two skills you look for in a future ace: Dom and GB% (both products of elite CB/Ch combo), and he even bolstered a previously so-so FpK. Reaching 200+ IP is next big step, but Dom%/DI% trend looks mighty fine."
