Last year was the outlier. The decline started in 2007.

No, it's just the Fantasy Baseball Guide jinx. Whoever Rotoman picks for the cover of his magazine has a season somewhere between mediocre and disastrous. Those of us who invested in Jeter should be content at this point with mediocre.

The beginning of the decline at 36? Somebody made the comment about another player here recently along the lines of it's great to be consistent until you're not. Watched him hit into two DPs last nite, one of which ended the game w/ the bases loaded. The announcers said that made 17 for the season and that his BA was his worst since his rookie season. His runs scored will continue to be valuable w/ NYY's offense. They could have used a couple of his hits since they were tied w/ the Rays after last nite. I hate to see him go, but we all lose a step, our swing, our power, our nerve, our desire, etc. sooner or later.

How did you get Pedroia at $11? Minor leaguer?

I... I... I just watched Derek Jeter coast into first on a grounder to third.

You're getting old, Derek!

Cool comment by Stick Michaels after the Yankee game today, talking about Jeter playing hurt: "I could never do that. Little injuries bothered me."

I am keeping him at $28 in my AL 4x4. I am hoping for somewhere in between '08 and '09.

As a definite non-Jeter support I just acquired him as a keeper for $29 in my second league. 5x5 w/ OBP. It's 12 keepers including minor leaguers, so inflation is generally very, very high.

Hey, at least defense doesn't count in our game.

Fills out my MI with Pedroia $11 ending a long-term contact, and Asdrubal Cabrera, who I'll probably add a year for $6.
