I got to see Manny take batting practice yesterday, too, sore hamstring and all. Like a lot of the Sox hitters, he was working on going the other way before swinging for the fences, including a bomb he hit over mine and Toz's head into the second deck in left field at CBP. So I think the Sox are holding him back just as a precautionary measure. |

For all my nattering negativity, I got Manny for $31. Hope I'm wrong. |

Was fun to watch Manny taking batting practice yesterday. Cranking giant homers, he seemed to have a bit of a competition going with Ortiz. Was thinking he'd go deep in the game, no luck there, but his stroke looks nice. And after a sensational catch, robbing Big Frank of extra bases, he let out a huge grin. Love seeing someone having fun out there.

When Manny finally goes, he'll go fast and he'll go bad. He'll make Mo Vaughan look like Julio Franco. |

I'm with you, Amaros. Even if Manny's in shape, unless that shape included some sort of Taoist mediation practice that'll change Manny's mood when he's upset about a bad play he made in left or a bad call by an ump three innings ago, he's still on the wrong side of the age curve for a player like this. Alex's bid is fine, but pushing him back up to the elite level is asking for trouble. I'd rather take a shot on young up-and-comers Rios or Granderson and try to wrangle a profit than settle for a mild to moderate loss. |
