At long last an easy save in the life of Brian. One batter with a runner on and a three-run lead

6-3 looks like an easy save, but far from it. Score 4-3 in the 8th inning when he was brought in with a runner on first. Gave up a bad BABIP luck single.

First and third, one out.

Struck out the one dangerous hitter on the O's (Markakis) on three pitches. Got the next batter (Scott) to ground weakly to second. Retired the side in order in the ninth.

If he doesn't leads the league in Tough Saves, I don't know who does.

Took 39 pitches to hold onto Lincecum's 1-0 win today, ending in an amazing 15 pitch AB to Matsui before he skied one out to left to end the game with the bases loaded.

39 pitches - 36 of them in the 96-98 mph range, according to MLB.com. That's gotta take something out of the arm for a few days?

I'm an east coast guy, so I rarely get to see Wilson pitch. But I do get the Mets, and I have to say the two back doors that he threw to Ike Davis were amazing.

Perhaps his pitches were wind-aided, but 'God Only Knows' how he does it.

Brought into the game in the 8th inning with one out and the tying run on second. Save ops don't much tougher than that.

Two punchouts to end that inning.

First batter in the ninth inning gets a wind-blown double.

Three more punchouts.

This after the Giants have lost the two previous games on walk-off homers by the other team's catchers.

Now just one. K/9 will be higher this year.

He had 2 pretty good years in 2008 :-)

I think the big question is whether those K's were fluky. His control isn't that great and the HR will only go up. Major regression in 10 IMO.

Giants signed him to a two-year extension. Good move. The Rating and K/9 tell the story.
