And at this stage of the game, Lofton may well be a poorer defensive center fielder than either Angel Pagan or Todd Church ... while Barry offers a 300+ point OPS upgrade over Lofton. |

If Beltran goes down they will need a CF and my guess is Kenny Lofton's phone will ring. He doesn't have any baggage and has a "championship pedigree." |

My guess is that it's mainly a function of (a) need; and (b) GM's willingness to deal with a shitstorm. For a lot of reasons, I see the Mets as a candidate - there are so many high profile players that Barry won't outshine everyone, and if Alou doesn't come back on a timetable and/or Beltran's knees act up, they may well be buyers before anyone else is prepared to. |
